The Coca Leaf Reading and Counseling is an ancient Andean practice designed to provide guidance, clarity, and healing. Conducted by Paqo masters from the Qero Inca Nation, this experience involves a sacred consultation where coca leaves are used as an oracle to communicate with the spiritual world. The ceremony aims to address a person’s doubts, fears, and questions about various aspects of life, including spiritual growth, health, relationships, and career choices, among others.
The spiritual guide and master Qero can meet you directly at your hotel in Cusco, offering a deeply personal and intimate ceremony within your own private space. Typically, guests invite us into their rooms for these sessions, allowing for a comfortable and secluded setting where the connection between the spiritual realm and our reality feels closest. These sessions are confined to 40 minutes, ensuring a focused and profound experience. Should your accommodation not offer a suitable space, the ceremony can be relocated to a quiet area or lobby, preserving the ceremony’s sanctity and privacy.
For those seeking a more traditional setting, we offer the option to conduct the ceremony at the master’s home in San Jeronimo, a quaint area roughly an hour’s travel across Cusco. This option includes a modest additional cost of $25 for round-trip transportation. The master’s residence, while humble, provides a serene and welcoming environment. Here, the ceremony takes place on the floor, surrounded by cushions in a tranquil room, enhancing the authentic experience of connecting with Mama Coca and Pachamama under the careful guidance of our master Qero.
For our guests who prefer or require the convenience of digital attendance, we also facilitate ceremonies via WhatsApp or Zoom. While this method may seem less traditional, it is no less meaningful, offering participants a bridge to the spiritual guidance of the Qero people, no matter where in the world they may be.
Please note: this tour takes about 1 hour in total. However, the exact duration depends on the group size. If you are more people, the tour can take longer, as the ceremonies will be carried out for each participant.
This practice not only supports individual well-being but also preserves the rich cultural heritage of the Andean people, ensuring the transmission of their ancestral wisdom through generations. Additionally, our tours are designed with sustainability in mind, minimizing negative impacts on the environment and local communities. We work closely with indigenous leaders and communities to ensure that our visits are respectful and beneficial for all involved.
Nothing extraordinary really. But, please avoid eating garlic and onions before and after tour dates. These products can have a strong influence on both good and bad spirits in general and do not allow us to work spiritually in ceremonies.

Alejandro was born in the Qeros Nation in Cusco. He is a “maestro” Paqo, and wants to keep alive the healing techniques and costumes from his community and ancestors. Alejandro comes from a family lineage of shamans. His father, grandfather, and grandmother were helping people to practice reciprocity and live in health and harmony with the Pachamama (Mother Earth).
The Apaza Family Paqos are the last shamans who have lived without contact to the outside world in their childhood. They have learned the rituals of their ancestors and have received special initiations, spending days of isolation in the most sacred mountains of the Andes. Alejandro wants to follow their path and share his ancestral knowledge with the world. He follows and respects the same principles of living in balance and harmony with all around us.
