Dani is the office’s bird biologist… haha, yes, you read that right! He studied biology in Venezuela and spent years traveling in search of birds, even publishing papers on their breeding strategies and traits.
Originally from Peru, Dani loves living in his home country, where bird species number in the thousands. However, the truth is that he had always wanted to work in the travel industry, even as a student. Following that path, he got in touch with us back in 2011, when we were just beginning to grow as an agency under the name Responsible Travel Peru.
At first, he took on small freelance tasks, though “small” does not mean less important. From accompanying travelers to remote destinations and meeting with partners to explore new collaborations, to creating content, he gradually became more involved. Over time, he took on greater responsibilities, eventually joining the team full-time, supervising our sustainability practices, and later becoming our current Digital Marketing Manager.
Today, Dani works remotely from Urubamba, staying close to the birds of the Sacred Valley while raising his son with Annika, our Sales Manager and Travel Designer.
I really enjoy how Peruvians often ask visitors if they have tried ceviche, or how those abroad cannot wait to return because they miss the food. Peruvians truly love their cuisine.
Back in the days of Responsible Travel Peru, there were so many new and exciting things happening that every day felt different. Today, we have achieved a lot, yet there is still so much to do, which keeps me motivated and curious about what comes next.
Sustainability is something we need to keep repeating as a mantra. As human beings, and especially when traveling, there is very little we can truly say we do sustainably. That is why I keep looking for ways to offer more responsible travel experiences and to live accordingly.
In my current role, I do not interact as much directly with travelers. However, I focus on ensuring that all the necessary information is always available to them. This way, they can make informed decisions before booking and feel prepared before starting their journey. That is how I help create a sense of confidence and ease.
