Get to know Lima on foot, as you walk through some of the most interesting parts and get an idea of daily life in Peru’s largest city. Taste interesting Peruvian fruits you have never seen before at a local market and blend in with the Limeños.

This Lima Walking Tour starts at 9 am from Miraflores. Together with your local English-speaking guide you will reach your first destination by walking; the Surquillo market. Here, you can try an incredible amount of fruits you have probably never tasted before.

Lima’s Historic City Center

From the market, you will take public transportation again, heading towards the historic center of Lima, one of Latin America’s most important colonial city centers. You will see beautiful colonial/republican buildings and squares, such as the Government Palace and the Cathedral. At the San Francisco church, you can visit the catacombs, as well.

After strolling around in this interesting part of Lima, you will end this tour back in Miraflores around 1.30 pm. If you want, you can choose to have lunch with your guide after the tour, as well (not included). In that case, you will end up in the historical center of Lima instead.

The Lima Walking Tour is a great way to understand a lot about Peru’s culture, which is why we highly recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your Peru trip. With the knowledge that you gain on this tour, you will be able to enjoy the rest of your holiday to the fullest. And don’t forget that you can ask your guide about anything you want to know about Lima. Don’t shy away from being curious!

Advice: have a light breakfast before your tour, as you will taste many different kinds of fruits today.

Frequently Asked Questions

About the Lima Walking Tour

Is this tour private or shared?

Our Lima Walking Tour is exclusively private for you and your group, ensuring a dedicated experience. We take pride in offering an affordable tour that delivers profound insights into Lima, reflecting our commitment to quality and value.

Is Lima safe?

Moving across Lima certainly requires a certain level of caution, but don’t let this to discourage you from experiencing this very particular destination, as with the right attitude you won’t be bothered by the thought of not feeling safe. Tourists attract attention, that is a fact, so it is wise to travel ‘low profile’ and avoid showing valuable items (big cameras, flashy cellphones, bulky wallets, expensive watches). Also, keep an eye over your personal belongings at all times.

Is this tour suitable for children?

We have stablished a minimum age of 6 years old as a “safe limit” to avoid kids get tired or bored of the activities and sightseeing common to any city-tour. But you know your kid(s) better than enyone else so we encourage you to take a second look to the tour description (transportation means and leght of the experience) and make an informed decision.

What kind of weather should I expect?

Lima weather can vary from relatively cold to relatively hot depending on the time of the year, but normally it is manageable when checking the forecast in advance. What makes the weather a little bit annoying is the high humidity that makes the cold days colder and the hot ones hotter.

How do cancellations work?

In case you would have to cancel the reservation on short notice (less than 30 days before), we unfortunately need to charge you costs which we can not get back. If you cancel before that, most of the times we’ll be able to refund you (minus administration fees already made, like credit card fees).

Certain costs might not be covered under the above arrangement because these are non-refundable. We will inform you honestly about these exceptions. We ask you for your understanding. Our full cancellation policy can be found here.

What if unforeseen events affect my trip?

In case of force majeure or unexpected events before or during the trip (accidents, strikes, climatological circumstances, earthquakes or other natural phenomena, safety conditions, political factors, denial of entry permits or visas, legal affairs of the traveler, health matters, etc.), Impactful Travdel may modify, replace or cancel itineraries, dates, flights, hotels, optional services, which is accepted by the passenger with purchasing the services.

Impactful Travel will try its best to have your trip continue as planned. We will refund you within our possibilities and policies of providers involved in the organization of your trip. In case those circumstances lead to additional costs, those have to be covered by you or your travel insurance. We will do our best to keep additional costs to a minimum.

Rosario Olivera

Rosario is our best guide for our original Lima Walking Tour since we developed the tour together with her and she knows best our way to do things, and what our travelers want. And it is not just us saying it, our clients love her because she is a natural. They love posing for the classic selfies, of which Rosario has an immense collection in all places and circumstances: on the bus, having ice cream, at the table, in the market, etc.
