Head of Sustainability Communication
Viva studied Consumer Science at Wageningen University and is now continuing her academic path with a Master’s in Tourism, Society, and Environment. As part of her research, she is working with Impactful Travel as an Intern to gain work experience in her field of interest, helping her combine theory from her studies with practical insights from the tourism field.
Alongside her studies, Viva runs Viva Wageningen Tours, guiding visitors through her hometown of Wageningen since January 2025. Within both tour agencies, she focuses on themes of sustainability and environmental consciousness, bringing a thoughtful perspective to how tourism can highlight both cultural and ecological values.
Outside of work, Viva enjoys visiting new places, biking, and spending time in nature. Viva also enjoys film, and she used to work at a local old-school cinema. A passionate traveler herself, she values authentic experiences and meaningful human connections—qualities she carries into both her research and her professional contributions in tourism.
When I first came to Peru, my colleague Carla taught me that whenever you see an overpass to safely cross the street, you do not take it because it has too many stairs. You just cross the street whenever.
I was drawn to Impactful Travel Peru because of its deep commitment to working with local communities. Sustainability has been a core focus of my studies, and I strongly believe in creating a positive impact wherever you go: not just traveling responsibly, but contributing meaningfully.
Most of all: the people. Meeting people from all over the world has been incredibly valuable to me and has been the highlight of many of my trips. Then I also need a hint, or maybe even a big splash of adventure and spontaneity. I am a firm believer that a lot of great things happen when you least expect it!
